SAINT PAUL, Minn. – “Frequent celebration of special events” and “genuine care for members” may seem like less significant parts of company culture, but these factors contribute to makes our company a Great Place To Work™ — and we are proud to announce that Catholic United Financial is a certified Great Place To Work™ for the second year in a row!

Great Place To Work™ is a highly sought-after employer-of-choice certification, awarded entirely based on employees’ positive opinions of their workplace as reported in an anonymous statement survey. According to that survey of our employees, Catholic United Financial ranked 19 percent higher than the national average ranking of workplaces.

Vice President of Global Recognition at Great Place To Work™, Sarah Lewis-Kulin, says that becoming certified takes “consistent and intentional dedication to the overall employee experience.” Director of Human Resources Gary Maki spearheads that responsibility at Catholic United Financial, knowing it is important to always be attentive to the employee experience and company culture.

“It’s both the big things and the little things,” Gary says about delivering a positive work experience to employees, “the way we communicate both as management and in one-one-one conversations.” Maki believes that data gathered from organizations like Great Place To Work™ speaks well to the opinions of the whole organization, but it’s also crucial that company leadership listens to individual employees’ opinions and concerns. Maki says Catholic United Financial is currently hiring for open positions (view here) and hopes that the 2024 certification will influence talented people to join the company.

“…it is important to always be attentive to the employee experience and company culture.”

More than 85 percent of our employees who participated in the Great Place To Work™ survey noted that the company management is ethical and honest about our business practices, and more than 90 percent commended Catholic United Financial’s welcoming nature to new hires.

Along with its small size, Catholic roots, and unique vision and focus, the main factor that employees named as what makes Catholic United Financial a great workplace is our people.

Maki states “a combination of people and mission” is what makes the company a great place to work. “Our employees, especially our sales force, truly see this work as their calling. They do it to serve our members more than any other reason.”
