Summary: The Catholic Schools Raffle closes on March 12, 2020 with a prize ceremony in front of a live audience with celebrity guests. The big news is will the 90 schools participating this year raise a collective $1 million, bringing our grand total since 2009 to more than $10 million raised for Catholic education?

Interviews Available: Matt Birk, Kathryn Kueppers, Catholic United staff and participating schools staff and students will be on site and available for interviews.

ST. PAUL, MN – Gridiron meets glamour on March 12 when the 2020 Catholic Schools Raffle draws to a close. On that morning, guest emcees Super Bowl champion Matt Birk and Miss Minnesota Kathryn Kueppers will announce the winners more than $40,000 in prizes in front of a live audience, but the pressing question on everyone’s minds will be, “Did we reach $10 million dollars?”

Catholic school students from across Minnesota and the Dakotas have been selling raffle tickets since January, and competing for top selling prizes and performance grants. On March 12, winners and totals will be revealed during our prize ceremony streamed live online, including the revelation of reaching a potential program milestone of $10 million total raised since 2009.

Catholic Schools Raffle Prize Ceremony
March 12, 11 am
Catholic United Financial Home Office
3499 Lexington Ave N, Saint Paul, MN 55126

Super Bowl champion and former Minnesota Viking Matt Birk returns for his second year as the master of ceremonies. More than just a gridiron champ, Matt cleverly quips his way through the 40-minute ceremony while sharing his passion for Catholic education and developing a healthy culture for youth sports.

Kathryn Kueppers, talented singer, spokesperson and Catholic school alumnus who currently holds the title of Miss Minnesota, will be on hand to pull prize-winning tickets out of our 10-foot-long raffle drum. It takes a forklift to transport this massive container filled with over 300,000 tickets! A name on one of these tickets will represent the winner of a brand new Buick SUV or $20,000 in cash, to be revealed on March 12.

Other highlights during this ceremony will be: a dramatic banner drop of the grand total raised by all 89 schools; the announcement of the three top-selling schools who will each receive $3,000 grants; and the drawing of more than 40 prizes by lucky winners who bought tickets to support their local Catholic schools.

The Catholic Schools Raffle is the largest fundraiser for Catholic schools in the Upper Midwest, and has raised over $8.5 million for Catholic education since 2009. Every year, sponsor Catholic United Financial underwrites more than $100,000 to fund the raffle. Since 2014, participating schools have raised 10 times that amount each year and they keep every dollar they collect.
