Nate’s Notes – Remembering Kathleen Moriarty
Many of you may remember former Fraternal Director, my predecessor, Kathleen Moriarty, who retired in 2015. Sadly, after dealing with pancreatic cancer for more than four years, Kathleen passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 11.
When I reflect on my time working with Kathleen, her care and appreciation of our members stands out. She had high standards and pushed those she met to be better versions of themselves while also making them feel appreciated and loved. Her laughter and positive energy were contagious. She made friends everywhere she went. For me, she was a trusted friend and mentor.
In her time at Catholic United, she developed the Gather4Good® program, oversaw the creation of our Parish Volunteer Team model, and supported the creation of our online activity tracking system for councils and volunteer teams. In retirement, she served on the board for the Catholic United Foundation.
Please keep her husband, Greg, and the rest of her family in your prayers. In her generosity, Kathleen has indicated a desire to have memorials sent to the Greg Marzolf Jr. Foundation, St. Catherine University, or to the Catholic United Financial Foundation. Simply indicate in the memo or note that this is a memorial for Kathleen Moriarty.
“Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
